DooWop Site

How This Site Came To Be

Back in December of 1998, I brought this very same computer as a Christmas present to myself. Among many things, I wanted to "build" a site on the web so that I could "share" my DooWop collection of 45 RPM's and LP's with the rest of the world! I wanted my B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L music to be heard by all. After checking out some pretty good sites and some not so pretty sites. I started my venture of building my site.

"Easy to Build ..."

I started to build what I thought would be an "easy to build" music page. "Piece of Cake" I said to myself. Everything was going well, until I got to the part of "encoding" (transfering) my music from the record into the computer. Well, needless to say, I was way over my head!

"Nothing Seemed To Work ..."

I started to read books, joining web classes, downloaded programs, asking a million questions, and still I couldn't transfer my music unto my site. This had turned into a real nightmare!

"To Make A Long Story Short ... "

After a lot of trials and errors ... and with the help of two truly great guys, whom I will name:
Richie (better known as "MrREPOguy") and Steve (better known as "Rockin Steve", WebMaster of Steve Kewl's DooWop Shop Jukebox and "My Brother" to me) I was able to conquer the world! So on February 15th, 1999, I uploaded my very first DooWop song (Lost in the Fifties Tonight). And the rest is history ...
Thank you for stopping by.
Yours truly,
Jorge (PureDooWop)
